Research Experience

Weill Cornell Medicine - Researcher

May 2019 - July 2021

  • Focused on understanding the differential contribution of bone cells to skeletal development and repair in mice joint replacement models
  • Conducted flow cytometry, genotyping, cell culture, computed tomography and histology to analyze all samples
  • Managed mouse colony, assisted with animal surgeries, oversaw animal surgery workflow, oversaw mice drug administration for controlled substances and hazardous substances, oversaw tissue collection, and managed processing from human hip and knee surgeries
  • Extracted ossicles from mice and flash froze them, extracted RNA and conducted RNA analysis on a bioanalyzer

Syracuse Biomaterials Institute - Researcher

January 2015 - May 2019

  • Manipulated the surface of Shape Memory Polymers with Polyelectrolyte Multilayers to increase Fibroblast adhesion with the goal of accelerating wound healing for diabetes patients and military personnel
  • Analyzed the synergism between activated Shape Memory Polymers and Polyelectrolyte Multilayers
  • Analyzed the effects that Polyelectrolyte Multilayers had on Shape Memory Polymer topography and Fibroblast motility using Atomic Force Microscopy and Fluorescence Microscopy

University of Pittsburgh Human Engineering Research Laboratory - Summer Researcher

May 2016 - August 2016

  • Monitored changes in heart rate and energy expenditure of military veteran wheelchair users participating in adaptive sports such as wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby
  • Coded prediction models using Machine Learning techniques for an accelerometer that determines accurate energy expenditure in manual wheelchair users

Syracuse University Fit Families Program - Research Assistant

Research Mentor: Dr. Luis Columna

August 2014 - August 2015

  • Designed adaptive physical activity program for children with visual impairments
  • Conducted Test of Gross Motor Development assessments (TGMD-2) and body composition tests using a Bod Pod on children with visual impairments as they engaged in adaptive physical activities

Syracuse University Human Performance Laboratory - Researcher

Research Mentor: Dr. Kevin Heffernan

August 2013 - May 2014

  • Analyzed the effects of Whey Protein consumption on neurocognitive health and cardiovascular health in elderly adults
  • Administered Stroop Tests, Montreal Cognitive Assessments (MOCA) and measured body composition using a BodPod
